Rt. Hon. Justine Greening, MP

Secretary of State, Department for International Development

The Rt. Hon. Justine Greening MP was appointed UK Secretary of State for International Development in September 2012. She is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Putney, Roehampton and Southfields in south London.

Born in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, Justine attended her local comprehensive school before studying economics at Southampton University. She holds an MBA from the London Business School and was Finance Manager at the energy company Centrica plc before being elected as a Member of Parliament in May 2005.

Following her election, Justine was appointed a Vice Chair of the Conservative Party, with responsibility for youth. She also became a member of the Work and Pensions Select Committee, before being made Shadow Treasury Minister in 2007 and Shadow Minister for London in January 2009. Justine was Economic Secretary to the Treasury from May 2010 to October 2011 and, most recently, was the Secretary of State for Transport until her appointment as Secretary of State for International Development.
